From spring to autumn, Varengeville-sur-mer offers a bouquet of gardens to visit, and if you like walking or riding a bicycle, many promenades have to be discovered. The town – located on the littoral – enables an easy way to the beach where you will be able to swim or to admire the coastal landscape and its chalk cliffs at leisure. Or you could also go to Pouville-sur-mer – a next-door town – and discover its huitrière and its sampling of oysters by the waterside.
The town of Varengeville-sur-mer was used as decor and as inspiration for many painters – from Monet to Braque by way of Isabey and Miro; but also for many other artists – authors and musicians. You will also have the possibility to visit its famous cemetery by the sea – where great names such as the painter George Braque lie – and its Norman church.
The town offers a certain number of local services at its heart – pharmacy, butcher’s shop, bakery, grocery, tobacconist’s/newspapers, brasserie and restaurant, but also a jewellery and clothes shop, a hairdresser and a mechanic; and you will find supermarkets in the next-door cities of Dieppe (10km) and Offranville (8km).
Dieppe – city of art and history – located 7km south-west of the town, is easy to access. From François Ier to the duchesse du Berry, stories about the region are plentiful. Come and take a walk gazing vacantly around you among the streets of Dieppe to admire the architecture and the ironwork of the balconies, come and wander among the aisles of the market on Saturday mornings, and above all come and taste fishes and crustacean on the port. Your children will joyfully discover the great beach of pebbles, its play yard or even the different museums of Dieppe. This city offers an important diversity of activities to do, discover them!
